Cannabinoids can help get your dog back on his feet

Arthritis from old age. Lingering damage from a past injury. Whatever the source, we hate to see our dogs in discomfort. But fear not - naturally supplementing your dog’s diet with cannabinoids can help.

A faulty damage detection network can harm your dog

A common principle in biology is that too much of anything can be a bad thing. Sometimes a dog’s pain detection network is faulty, causing it to activate when it shouldn’t – detecting damage to the body when in fact there is none to warrant a pain response. In worst cases, this system might be activated all the time. Persistent or chronic activation of the detection network can result in additional damage to parts of that network. And prolonged periods of stress caused by chronic pain can result in damage to your dog’s body in general.

Cannabinoids can reduce pain network activation

Fortunately, your dog’s damage detection network can be influenced by his endocannabinoid system (ECS). When activated by the consumption of CBD, the endocannabinoids produced by your dog’s ECS can interact with the nerve cells that make up the damage detection network in his body and brain. This interaction can interrupt the persistent and/or faulty activation of your dog’s damage detection network – soothing the pain he might be experiencing.

Persistent, chronic discomfort doesn’t have to be a fact of life for your dog. By leveraging his endocannabinoid system, you might help your dog get back to the activities he loves.
